Design:</strong></p><ul><li>Own and continuously evolve the overall architecture of the Digital Platform — spanning multiple websites, the mobile application, CDN layer, CMS, integrations, and API ecosystem — ensuring coherence, scalability, and resilience across all components.</li><li>Translate complex business requirements and user experience goals into clear, well-reasoned technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and component designs that engineering teams can execute against.</li><li>Define and govern the technology stack for the Digital Platform — evaluating, selecting, and retiring technologies with a focus on long-term maintainability, performance, and strategic fit.</li><li>Design scalable microservice and API architectures that support the platform's integration needs — connecting the CMS, front-end applications, mobile app, and third-party systems in a cohesive and resilient manner.</li><li>Lead architectural decision-making for new platform capabilities — establishing patterns, reference architectures, and technical standards that engineering teams adopt consistently.</li><li>Oversee the architecture of cloud infrastructure on AWS — applying well-architected framework principles across reliability, security, performance efficiency, cost optimisation, and operational excellence.</li><li>Define the data architecture for the Digital Platform — including content modelling within the CMS, API contracts, data flows between systems, and database design using SQL Server and PostgreSQL.</li></ul><p><strong>SEO, AEO &amp; Web Performance:</strong></p><ul><li>Own the architectural implications of SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) across the Digital Platform — ensuring that site structure, content rendering strategies, schema markup, URL design, and crawlability are built into the platform architecture from the ground up.</li><li>Define the platform's approach to server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and client-side rendering (CSR) — making well-reasoned trade-offs based on SEO requirements, performance targets, and content dynamism.</li><li>Own the architectural strategy for Google Core Web Vitals (CWV) performance — providing technical leadership on LCP, INP, and CLS optimisation across all web properties, and defining the platform changes needed to achieve and sustain strong CWV scores.</li></ul><p><strong>Leadership &amp; Cross-functional Collaboration:</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and mentor engineering leads and senior developers across the Digital Platform team — providing technical guidance, reviewing architectural decisions, and ensuring alignment with the overall platform strategy.</li><li>Conduct thorough requirements analysis across business, product, marketing, and engineering stakeholders — synthesising diverse inputs into coherent technical direction.</li><li>Collaborate closely with Product, UX, PMO, and Marketing teams to ensure that platform architecture supports and accelerates business objectives — not just technical ones.</li><li>Document architectural decisions, reference patterns, and technical standards — maintaining a living architecture knowledge base that enables consistent engineering decisions across teams.</li><li>Participate in and lead design reviews, architectural review boards, and engineering planning sessions — providing authoritative technical input on feasibility, risk, and approach.</li><li>Stay at the forefront of digital platform trends, emerging web standards, cloud-native technologies, and SEO/AEO developments — proactively identifying opportunities to improve the platform's capabilities and competitive position.</li><li>Support engineering hiring by defining technical assessment standards and contributing to candidate evaluation for senior engineering roles.</li></ul><p><strong>Required Skills &amp; Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>16+ years of experience in software engineering,</strong> with at least 6–8 years in a solution architect or principal engineer role with ownership of large-scale digital platforms.</li><li><strong>Digital Platform architecture expertise:</strong> Proven track record of designing and owning the architecture of complex, multi-property digital platforms comprising websites, mobile applications, CMS, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.</li><li><strong>Front-end architecture:</strong> Deep understanding of modern front-end technologies — React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and component-driven architecture — and the ability to make informed decisions on rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, CSR) based on SEO and performance requirements.</li><li><strong>CMS architecture:</strong> Experience architecting CMS-driven digital platforms, with hands-on familiarity with Crownpeak or comparable enterprise CMS platforms — including content modelling, template architecture, and headless CMS patterns.</li><li><strong>Mobile platform architecture:</strong> Understanding of cross-platform mobile architecture using React Native — including API design for mobile consumption, app release pipelines, and mobile performance considerations.</li><li><strong>Back-end &amp; API design:</strong> Strong expertise in microservice architecture, RESTful API design, and back-end development using .NET Core and C# — with experience designing systems that are scalable, observable, and fault-tolerant.</li><li><strong>AWS Cloud — Well-Architected:</strong> Proven expertise in AWS cloud architecture, applying the Well-Architected Framework across the five pillars — operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimisation.</li><li><strong>SEO &amp; AEO architecture:</strong> Solid understanding of technical SEO principles — including crawlability, indexability, structured data (schema.org), canonical strategies, and rendering decisions — and emerging AEO concepts for AI-powered search and voice discovery.</li><li><strong>CDN &amp; edge architecture:</strong> Experience designing delivery architecture using Cloudflare or equivalent CDN platforms — including caching strategies, edge rules, security configuration, and performance optimisation.</li><li><strong>Database architecture:</strong> Working knowledge of relational database design using SQL Server and PostgreSQL — including schema design, query optimisation, and data access patterns for high-traffic digital platforms.</li><li><strong>Communication &amp;
