The role sits within the global Software Asset Management function and is focused on optimizing software contract spend, ensuring compliance, analyzing software usage data, and translating insights into actionable outcomes in collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups across the organization.</p><p>The Group Technology and Operations Software Asset Management team is an international function spanning four countries. The team manages a multi-million-dollar software portfolio and a global SAM technology stack, enabling IT stakeholders to achieve operational and financial objectives. This role offers the opportunity to operate at a groupwide level and help define and implement best-practice SAM methodologies, particularly across Microsoft and Oracle and/or Red Hat environments.</p><p><strong>EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ROLE &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><ul><li>The role requires deep subject matter expertise in Software Asset Management operations, with the ability to interpret and advise on complex software licensing scenarios. The candidate will be responsible for producing Effective License Positions (ELPs), specifically across Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software environments, spanning on-premise, cloud, and containerized infrastructures.</li><li>A strong understanding of Microsoft licensing models, product use rights, and deployment scenarios in Azure, on-premise environments, and containers is essential. The role also involves working with Microsoft licensing and usage systems and tools such as Azure Active Directory, CMDB, My Access, and Intune, as well as comparable Oracle or Red Hat tracking and billing systems.</li><li>The specialist will ensure transparency of software costs, enabling fair allocation of charges to business units and service owners based on actual software consumption. A key aspect of the role is engaging with internal stakeholders and external vendors to negotiate contracts, manage demand, and support contract updates in collaboration with procurement, legal, and sourcing teams.</li><li>The role also includes maintaining a strong stakeholder network, promoting effective information sharing, and supporting global SAM governance by implementing standards, processes, controls, and performance metrics. Continuous improvement is a core expectation, including identifying cost-saving opportunities, mitigating compliance risks, and enhancing SAM practices across the organization.</li><li>A further expectation is leveraging AI-driven capabilities to improve efficiency within SAM processes, reduce manual effort, identify recurring usage patterns, and uncover optimization opportunities. The role also supports broader SAM team operations as required and contributes to ongoing service delivery and improvement initiatives.</li></ul><p><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS &amp; SKILLS:</strong></p><ul><li>The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in Software Asset Management, with direct responsibility for managing Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software portfolios in large enterprise environments.</li><li>Experience must include building and maintaining fully optimized Effective License Positions (ELPs), from data collection through to final analysis and reporting. A strong understanding of licensing constraints, entitlements, optimization opportunities, and BYOL (Bring Your Own License) models across AWS and Azure cloud environments is required.</li><li>The role requires practical experience with Microsoft usage tracking, billing, and measurement tools, along with proficiency in SAM platforms, ideally Flexera One, and associated data sources. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas, are essential.</li><li>Candidates should demonstrate experience in adopting and embedding AI-based solutions within SAM or related operational environments.
