As a Product Owner for Cybersecurity in Industrial Control Systems (ICS), you'll be responsible for leading the development and implementation of security solutions that protect critical infrastructure from cyber threats. You'll bridge the gap between technical security requirements and business objectives while ensuring that security products meet the unique needs of industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap Development
• Define the vision and strategy for cybersecurity products specific to ICS environments
• Create and maintain a prioritized product backlog based on threat intelligence, compliance requirements & stakeholder needs
• Balance security enhancements with operational technology (OT) performance requirements
Requirements Management
• Gather and document detailed security requirements from stakeholders including plant operations, IT security teams, and compliance officers
• Translate complex technical security needs into clear product specifications
• Ensure security solutions address the unique challenges of ICS environments (legacy systems, 24/7 operations, safety constraints)
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Serve as the liaison between security engineering teams, OT personnel, and executive stakeholders
• Collaborate with IT/OT integration teams to ensure security solutions don't impact production availability
• Coordinate with vendors and third-party security providers
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure products meet industry standards and regulatory requirements (NIST CSF, IEC 62443, NERC CIP)
• Lead security risk assessments for ICS environments and prioritize mitigations
• Document security controls and provide evidence for compliance audits
Agile Implementation
• Lead agile development processes for security solutions, adapting methodologies to fit OT constraints
• Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, and product demonstrations
• Coordinate testing in simulated environments before production deployment
Metrics & Continuous Improvement
• Define and track KPIs for security product performance and effectiveness
• Analyze security incident data to identify product enhancement opportunities
• Establish feedback loops with operations teams to continuously improve security solutions
